hello friends, I tried to start the download of newly edited preferences via the command: C:\Programme\BOINC\boinc_gui.exe -update_prefs http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/login_action.php?key=106e5da4bd03386c712119e1438f42c0 Then I get the error message: "Failed to cleanup the Windows Sockets interface". Now, I am running Windows XP. What can I do to establish my newly edited preferences ? thanks for a quick help jochen |

I don't know if that worked or not. But that sockets interface error message usually means that another instance of BOINC is running. Ensure that boinc is not already running when you type in your update_prefs command line. |

Jochen, from your other posts I can see you're running the GUI version of BOINC. While the GUI version is active (i.e. while you can see the B icon in the system tray), you can do the "update_prefs" only with a right-click on the project name in the projects tab of the BOINC window. Currently (as of the CPDN server trouble) the update_prefs might not work at all though. |
