The first reset happened at 17% (highly frustrating), then the next resets have happened at 2.1%, 0.9% and 0.5%. I don't really see a reason to keep processing CP data when I can't even come close to a conclusion. BOINC Manager v4.25 Dual P3/1G Processors 8Gb partition, 5Gb free 768Mb RAM I always run it Tray Minimized Any advice would be appreciated. - Jason |

The error messages you are getting, -5, are non-specific and can occur either from hardware problems (cooling, flakey memory, etc) or software (software conflicts etc). Because CPDN is such a demanding application the fact that you may not have noticed problems before is not conclusive. You should check things like temperatures if you have not already done so, and there is advice here on things like hardware tests. Software conflicrs can be difficult to track down, but the first thing to consider is your AV program - see here. These things are very frustrating, so the best of luck. |

Hi Jason Try all of Andrew's suggestions first. If boinc cpdn is then still unstable on your computer, you could do the same as a few of us who are running the classic version instead, which is usually very stable and problem-free. Get to the classic download from the cpdn home page, then the Open Uni course link on the left. Classic doesn't get you any boinc credits, but it runs at about the same speed, gives you visualisations, and is equally useful to the researchers. Cpdn news |
