I am running BOINC Version 4.25 with my Laptop configured as "school".

All my other projects say:-
Host Location: School
Using separate project refs for school

CP says using your default project prefs

CP runs using the default preferences and not the specific school ones. I have checked that my Laptop is school on the computer summary.

The client_state.xml file says
{host_venue}school{/host_venue}

To what do you have the default prefs set?
I haven't set mine, so I'm not sure, but it looks as though you need to set up a separate pref for school, and then go to 'climateprediction.net preferences', edit it, and select the 'Default computer location' that you require. In this case 'school'.

I am using BOINC 4.43 now.

I have set up different Location preferences correctly (I know because all my other projects use the correct ones).

CP ignores my location, and always uses the default preference.

I am talking about the project specific preference here. I have not tried playing with the general preference options.

Thanks for the reply.

How to set up preferences is not my problem! I have it correctly configured on Seti, Einstein etc. These work, and download the correct resource allocation per computer. The problem is that Climate ignores the setting.

Resource allocation is controlled by BOINC and is mainly taken from the global preferences.

The error message you posted in your original question relate to the CPDN project-specific preferences, and the only thing there that affects the client is the resource share. If you haven't set up separate project-specific settings on <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/prefs.php?subset=project">this page</a> BOINC will use the default project preferences and display the message you reported.

I have setup project specific settings for the three locations, school, home, work.

I have doubled checked each computer is set up for the correct location.
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/hosts_user.php and clicking each computer.

I know I have the settings correct, it works on all my other projects. CP just doesn't use them!

I deleted all my location preferences, and left it as a default one for all locations.

I have just noticed in the BOINC Manager messages that CP now knows my location, which it did not know before. So either resetting the preferences cleared the problem, or someone at BOINC/CP has tweaked something or other??

Whichever, I am now happy!!

Over the last few days there has been an install of a rebuild of the scheduler software on CPDN. It may have been this, if you haven't changed your BOINC version.

Nice to hear it works at last.
