I'm using Boinc 4.43, and today I was compiling a level for quake3. This is a intensive process, so I turned off BOINC. But apparently, ClimatePrediction wasn't happy with this. It appeared to shutdown correctly (no Windows non-responsive message), but two exe's of hadsm were still running. Didn't touch them! Later on, I restarted BOINC, but Climate now said: 2005-06-01 17:17:26 [climateprediction.net] Unrecoverable error for result 2pxy_300148217_0 ( - exit code -5 (0xfffffffb)) 2005-06-01 17:17:26 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 59 seconds 2005-06-01 17:19:32 [climateprediction.net] Unrecoverable error for result 1ylz_200112444_0 ( - exit code -5 (0xfffffffb)) 2005-06-01 17:19:32 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 59 seconds 2005-06-01 17:52:41 [climateprediction.net] Can't delete file projects/climateprediction.net/1ylz_200112444 2005-06-01 17:52:41 [climateprediction.net] Can't delete project directory: -110 2005-06-01 18:00:58 [http://climateprediction.net/] Can't delete file projects/climateprediction.net/1ylz_200112444 2005-06-01 18:01:08 [climateprediction.net] No work from project 2005-06-01 18:01:08 [climateprediction.net] Deferring communication with project for 1 minutes and 0 seconds The files have not been deleted, so I was wondering... I know the WU's need to be mentioned in the XML-file client_state.xml, but they aren't there anymore. I'd like to know if and how to add WU's manually to this file, because 1ylz_200112444 was around 80%! |

Just found out that all the XML's of the WU's are also missing. 1ylz_200112444 was already in phase 3, too bad. 2pxy_300148217 only completed its first trickle... Guess I ran into the famous -5 code. Going to bail out of Climate Prediction till they got everything in working order, then we'll see again... |

I remember some discussion about a fix for this. I can't quite remember whether it was before or after Feb when that WU started. So this problem may well be fixed already. The best way to deal with such problems it to keep the occasional backup of the BOINC directory. HTH |
