After weeks and weeks of running the computer day and night ... and then pop, that's it!? No result? Anything I can do to recover that? To me running my personal computer for so long is not without cost/risk to machine so I would like to know I contributed a complete model at least.

iMac G5 1.8 GHz, upgraded from Panther to Tiger OS (OS X 10.4.1) mid-way (oh, oh). boinc_4.19_powerpc-apple-darwin from command line (no visualizer). It had problems connecting with scheduler for the last 24 hours or so, kept deferring.

Messages below show completion, successfull processing, packaging into zip (it looks like), failure, then upload(!) after all, then attempt to contact scheduler for more work, which fails, then finally succeeds and starts on a new one.

Latest: I now found detail pages for result, which appears to show that zip reported to many open files and crashed:

This is an unknown quantity at the moment, but if you can, keep the files a little longer.

This project desperately needs someone who knows about Macs, but there seems to be too few users, and no one knowledgable answering posts like this.

There is one user with a Power Macintosh PowerMac7,3, who has completed 16 models, all with full credit, and yet all have been listed as 'client error' because of this zip business.
This annoys me no end, even though in this case I'm just a bystander.

It may be a bug in hadsm, or in BOINC.

Don't know what to advise as regards you continuing here, but it doesn't look good.
Perhaps start haunting web sites about Macs to see if this occurs with other programs. Or find an Apple shop whose staff have time on their hands, so that they'll consider talking to you.
