What does this message mean? I\'m running BOINC Client 4.43 on Windows 2000 - There doesn\'t appear to be anything wrong.

Yep nothing wrong.

Just means something has happened that has caused BOINC to try to decide what work to do next. This could be as simple as, if you have set to switch every hour, reaching the end of a hour's processing. There could be other more complicated reasons or even simpler reasons such as just starting BOINC.

hmmm... I have installed BOINC Client 4.43 on Windows XP two days ago and have been getting the same messages ever since. But I also get this one:

18.6.2005 8:20:33||earliest deadline: 1119523311.000000 H1_1070.0__1070.2_0.1_T18_Fin1_4

every one hour, over and over and over. BOINC does not appear to switch between applications any more (Climate Prediction and Einstein@home). Einstein@home is working fine, Climate Prediction not at all. How do I get it to work again?

I believe that recent versions of the BOINC client have an improved job scheduling algorithm which takes account of whether a work unit is likely to fail to meet it's deadline (can't remeber where I read this but on one of the BOINC project sites).

I think BOINC will give a late unit preferential processing if it thinks it can save the unit from the deadline, over and above the "normal" processing split you've requested (it will certainly stop downloadnig units if it thinks it has too much work).

So what may be happening here is that you've got an Einstein unit nearly at the deadline and CPDN is being held back until BOINC completes that time critical unit.

That makes sense and it's certainly what BOINC seems to be 'thinking' - the funny thing is that the deadline for the Einstein project is a week from now. Even with the little (20%) share I've allocated for Einstein, my computer could complete well over three Einstein WUs during that time. Anyway, I will wait and see what happens once the current WU is finished. Thanks for the response.

There's info on this page about scheduling. It's off: News/... more/News archive/ on the Berkeley main page here.
Basically, you need to wait a week-10 days to let your projects settle down before fiddling with settings to grab more wus.

BOINC has become sophisticated or complicated. Pick one! :)

Okay, the Einstein WU is finished and my computer is happily crunching a new CP unit. Thanks for the help and info.
