I\'ve finished a model on the BOINC platform. Once again, it ended in the boring \"Temporarily failed upload\" error message. It is the 5th in a row, in 6 monthes. Each time, this message comes during a few weeks, and then the upload is dropped. I precise that completed 11 models with NO problem on the same PCs, but old platform (not BOINC). Will I ever be able to upload a model on BOINC? (In fact my 1st model uploaded successfully) Is BOINC more disturbed by security issues than the previsous platform? Should I reconfigure something on my PC? Should I move back to this old platform? I must admit it is very frustating to always come down to this message. |

Hi Gargulp. What type of internet connection do you have? What type of firewall? Do one or more of the files at the end of a run get uploaded and then it fails on one, or do none of them get uploaded? George |

Hi, On one of my computers, I have ADSL without any firewall. The other computer, is behind a firewall but I don't know which one. Its internet connection is broadband. None of the files get uploaded. These 2 computers are the one I used successfully with the old CPDN platform. A few monthes ago, the Bern server was down and it took very long to have it run again. Is this time again the Bern server which could be down? |

Is this time again the Bern server which could be down? > It doesn't seem likely to be the Bern server, since you say you PC's upload failures have been going on for months, and there would have been numerous complaints about failed uploads from other users as well. What is on the URL line in client_state.xml file when the upload is failing? Sorry I don't have any good suggestions, but there are smarter BOINC people around than me, so perhaps with the additional info you provided they can help. |

I feel like having a winge about uploads, and this is as good a place as any. A few hours ago I was due for a model upload, so I logged in and tried to get a new data set about 2 hours early. BOINC took 10 minutes to tell me that no schedulers were responding, so I disconnected for half an hour and tried again. It wasn't until 15 minutes before the model finished that I got a response. When the model was finished, I logged in again, and uploaded the zips to Bern Uni. It seemed to go OK, so I did an Update to 'report'. The results hadn't appeared after 5 minutes, so I logged out for 3 hours and had another look. Most of the expected data/messages were on the model page, but it was, and still is, showing "In Progress" "unknown" "New". There are no messages in any of the files to indicate anything going wrong. So I've now joined the incomplete completed model club. I'm beginning to think that, while users computers can be up to the task of DC, university servers aren't. Oh, well. One week to go until the next model finishes. This one will be going to Oxford. Les |

On one of my 2 PCs (but not the one which had the last error; I can't get this information for the PC in trouble at the moment), Master url is http://climateprediction.net/ My scheduler url is http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi For files having the upload_when_present tag in their infos, the corresponding url is http://cpdn-upload1.comlab.ox.ac.uk/cpdn_cgi/file_upload_handler |

The PC currently in trouble has the same information. The exact error message is: climateprediction.net - 2005-06-13 13:17:18 - Temporarily failed upload of 1ole_000099335_1_1.zip The problem occurs on Result ID 706046. BOINC version is 4.05 any hint? > On one of my 2 PCs (but not the one which had the last error; > I can't get this information for the PC in trouble at the moment), > Master url is http://climateprediction.net/ > My scheduler url is http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi > For files having the upload_when_present tag in their infos, the corresponding > url is > http://cpdn-upload1.comlab.ox.ac.uk/cpdn_cgi/file_upload_handler > > > |

I've just upgraded to BOINC v4.19? The problem remains, still can't upload. > The PC currently in trouble has the same information. > > The exact error message is: > climateprediction.net - 2005-06-13 13:17:18 - Temporarily failed upload of > 1ole_000099335_1_1.zip > > The problem occurs on Result ID 706046. > BOINC version is 4.05 > > any hint? > > > > > On one of my 2 PCs (but not the one which had the last error; > > I can't get this information for the PC in trouble at the moment), > > Master url is http://climateprediction.net/ > > My scheduler url is http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi > > For files having the upload_when_present tag in their infos, the > corresponding > > url is > > http://cpdn-upload1.comlab.ox.ac.uk/cpdn_cgi/file_upload_handler > > > > > > > > |
