Hi all
Now the servers are back up, I get a message saying:

\"climateprediction.net - 2005-07-02 11:52:35 - Message from server: Need major version 5 of the BOINC core client. You have 4.\"

Fair enough, except the workunit I have now does not seem to be finishing the unit it started..the progress bar was at 40%, now it stays at 0%.

Is this normal? Is all my work in vain? Do I have to manually download the lateset version.

Thanks

Thanks crandles - after restarting a few times it resumed its work. I'll download vwesion 5 when this WU finishes.(presumably, if I understood correctly, to be released soon)
Isn't it a bit silly to relaese to differnt core versions with a couple of weeks of each other?
I presume I will have to download version 5 manually.

Cheers

For now it still is marked as " Development version (MAY BE UNSTABLE - USE ONLY FOR TESTING)". Unless you like beta-testing I would not use it.
I assume that they will (try to) fix that issue next week....

I agree. Don't upgrade to version 5 because of this message. See Carl message
http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=3044&start=45
saying this should be fixed now.

that was a temporary snafu when I upgraded to the latest BOINC server software today, it should be OK for major versions 4 or 5 now. there was a nasty bug with the host table/null values which was preventing trickles from being logged but I think that is fixed. coupled with the new database optimization I did I'm hopeful things will be more stable now! it looks like there are thousands of backlogged trickles finally getting through.
