This is a common question. Should not be a serious problem. It can happen when your connection is not working. A forum search shows this: master file fetch failed Or when a server is temporarily down. I had the message a few times during latest trouble so I guess that's what happened to you too. btw: If you want to do a search, you have to click on the link top of the start page for the forum. Not very convenient so I've added a link right of my signature. Is it helpful? SEARCH THE FORUM |

I recently upgraded Norton Antivirus including the internet security package. I turned it off, and restarted Boinc and it worked fine, but stopped when I switched on Norton again. What do I do to fix the firewall? |

You'll need to give boinc.exe external read and write access to port 80. You may also need to give boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe localhost read and write access to ports 1043 and 31416. If you're running 4.19 or earlier the program is boinc_gui.exe instead of boinc.exe and you don't need to open up ports 1043 and 31416.
Join us here |
