Hi, I need to reinstall Windows (new disk, clean-up) and would like to preserve the CP data of the current run (is at approx 30%) over the reinstall. I hope there is some procedure by which I can save the (intermediate) data when BOINC /CP is not running, do a new Windows install, do a new BOINC install, and then restore the data before starting BOINC/CP Could not find any pointers, sorry thnks Hugh |

If it's a 4.19, it should work smooth for CPDN. CPDN even survives moving to a totally different computer with a new ID. 1. stop BOINC !!! 2. make a backup copy of your complete BOINC folder 3. reinstall windows 4. In order to have the registry entries for BOINC, install the same BOINC version that you had before but cancel the "attach to project" part at the end of the installation 5. stop BOINC !!! 6. copy the backup you made back to the new BOINC folder and allow to overwrite existing files _____________ Instead of 4. you can export all registry keys with "boinc" in the key name from the old windows into .reg files and import them on the new windows. That's what I did but you have to use regedit which is a bit scary if you're not familiar with it. _____________ This works for BOINC 4.19, not sure about newer BOINC versions |

It's BOINC 4.45, but I guess the same procedure will help. The least I can do is try :-) Thanks for the answer !!! > If it's a 4.19, it should work smooth for CPDN. > > ... > > This works for BOINC 4.19, not sure about newer BOINC versions > |
