Ok, I know Einstein@Home has a bata project (0.03) running that "fixes" the ATI card issue.

Is there one running for CPDN also? If so, can I get a link?

As of now, I have the classic running with threadmaster (set to Model.exe to %45 CPU) and BOINC running, but really hate having to run it like this.

I had issues with CPDN Classic 2.2.23 (no connection with server) but 2.2.29 is running great, even with the CPU usage limited to %45. No graphics problems.

As of now, I can't even start CPDN within BOINC on this machine cause of the exception errors as soon as hadsm3 starts. I've trying old BOINC cliets and currently running 4.70 just looking for a way to get CPDN to work.

I've tried old ATI drivers, and now running the newest..lol

Heck, I even tried running with no drivers (that got me a few extra minutes before the same crash...lol)

Windows XP Professional SP2 (all updates applied as of 07-14-05)
AMD XP3000+ (no overclocking)
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9200 (6.14.10.6542)
BOINC 4.70
Seti@Home 4.18
Einstein@Home 0.03 (beta for ATI testing)
CPDN hadsm3 4.12 *suspended* Computer ID: 193724

Apparently it's not the user software, it's the server software.
It was mentioned somewhere within the last week, where it was also said that a rebuild would be done later in the year to fix several problems.
It's possible that some of these may be related to the Sulphur Cycle model, which is still in the test phase.

I'm hoping to build one tomorrow with the latest BOINC patches to fix the ATI bug.

I Had a problem with graphics not showing while running climateprediction.net and Einstein@home . But had no problem running Seti@home, I was using the newest version of Bonic I switched to the older version of Bonic 4.19 and am having no trouble viewing graphics from climateprediction.net. It also fixed a problem I was having using Advanced Visualization.
Here is my system information for reference.

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name
System Manufacturer VIA Technologies, Inc.
System Model PT800-8237
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 3 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~2405 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 1/13/2005
SMBIOS Version 2.3
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Locale United States
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)"
User Name
Time Zone Eastern Daylight Time
Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 208.02 MB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
Page File Space 1.22 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys

My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 9550 running the latest catalyst drivers 6.14.10.6553

The screen saver seems to work fine however I think there is an error when systems go into power saving mode as the system reports an error in program hadsm 3 4.12.exe

I hope this helps solve the graphics trouble with ATI cards.

I have compiled one, but as it's been 7 months since I built hadsm3, I think it's safest to do it as a "beta." For those of you who have ATI cards and can't run the hadsm3 now, please try this out. It would be nice if you do it for a day or so at least, and keep the graphics up a bit etc. As a bonus you'll get a preview of the corrected graphics (I had the clouds going the wrong way & ice in the wrong place etc which Tolu fixed), plus you can discover some of Tolu's secret additions via keystrokes when viewing the graphics! :-)

If all goes well (i.e. it goes through phase 1 OK, that's my main worry is the post-phase processing) I will make it the "regular" hadsm3 download in a week or so.

PS -- you can create a new account or just use the authenticator 'carl'

Hi,
I attached to test and the graphics are working fine under CC4.71 and ATI card
The globe is spinning fast when I launch the viz (like Sulphur) and I have to press A twice to stop it from spinning.
The rotation of the globe seems more fluid when I watch the cloud and ice layers too.

Tested the playback option: great (I thought it was a bug at the beginning, stupid me)
Well done and thanks for these improvements

thanks for the feedback. tolu has done some great graphics, there's a 2d projection on there somewhere (W key?). if all goes well the next day or two I may put it up "live" on the main site for everyone.

I guess we can just keep comments in this thread, I must not have turned on the message boards on the climateapps1/hadsm3beta site.

Also, it you put it on the live version, then PLEASE give me some instructions to rename it or something so I don't have to redownload it.....lol

A little request:
Would it be possible to have a little word saying "recording" to know if we're recording or not.

And is it possible to erase the record and do a new one?
exemple: I record from 21 to 100 timesteps and then I want to do a new record from 200 to 300, so as When I play the viz back I just see the 200 to 300 TS and not 21->100 and 200->300

Tip:
Each time I launch the viz, I see the south pole.
I change the numbers in the viewpoint.xml (in the Wu directory) and it changed the viewpoint when launching. Cool to choose your country :o)
(I don't know if there is a more elegant way to choose these coordinates via the keyboard keys in the viz: I didn't find any)

It seems the compilation of the model has been optimized: 3.06 S/TS for me (never done better than ~3.5 with older version)

Thanks

EDIT: Still running fine after one night of crunching. No problem so far.

Pretty cool new options.

Appears stable on an A64 3400+ with Radeon 8500 running Catalyst 5.7 drivers but I've only been running it for a few hours. Speed is about the same on this PC as 4.12 hadsm.

It's good to see the snow cover and clouds are fixed.

There still appears to be a "seam" at 0 degrees longitude in temperature and pressure (and other things?) seen here...also explained in part of this thread. I don't see one at 180 degrees so maybe that's OK?

yeah I think Tolu just needs to factor in the 0 long cell data for the contour (i.e. by the time you go from 0 (greenwich) to 359 (ireland I guess) the 359 cell isn't factoring in what happened at 0).
