A big thank you to whoever compiled the new linux executable. It works just great under freebsd 4.10 running linux emulation. Now running it on my most studly box (p4 2.4 gig ram) along with all the lesser machines.

In order to run it, you need to do the following, when the model is first run:

1. let it grab its files and let it unpack them, then stop the model.

2. in the boinc dir, brandelf -t Linux boinc_4.05_i686-pc-linux-gnu

3. cd into projects/climateprediction.net and brandelf -t Linux all the ha* files (not the zips)

4. restart the client.

I should mention that the core clients v 4.05 were all compiled by Rom Walton of BOINC, and they seem to have more stuff so I assume it's statically compiled libs which should help people who were crashing on Linux.

This is GREAT to hear. Will try again once the Windows version has finished and maybe I can get rid of M$ of a few PCs

Seems it will run under emulation but it returns some very odd results. However, it doesn't crash :)

So I'm waiting for an emulation of suse-9 for the time being, or maybe boinc from cvs might do the trick. Difficult to tell if its the freebsd or the linux emulation causing the problem.

Where is this new version of boinc for freebsd available? I can't get the current version to run. Just quits with this:

$ ./boinc
./boinc: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
$

I have exactly the same problem on FreeBSD 4.10 with Linux ABI turned on.
Note that this is *not* emulation, it is an implementation of the Linux ABI, as of Linux V7.

Is there a libgcc_s.so.1 that I can download?

Thanks,
BillN
