I am having a problem with a computer that is set to suspend BOINC when the user is active. While it seems to work fine if applications other than CPDN are running at the time it suspends, I have seen several occasions where CPDN refuses to release the CPU. BOINC manager reports all activites are suspended, but the CPU is running at 100% and task manager shows HADSM process is still using the CPU. Actually, there appears to be two HADSM processes in the task queue, one running and the other not. I have tried resetting the project, but this did not help. Anyone have any ideas? |

I have now tried a complete un-install of BOINC, wiping all traces of any BOINC files, and re-installing (I apologize to the other projects who lost work because of this). It did not help. The new CPDN WU downloaded is still failing to suspend as before. Both BOINC and BOINCVIEW show it as suspended, but the HADSM process is still running at 100% CPU, according to windows task manager. Also, I have noticed that the WEB site shows this machine has not produced a trickle in months. |

Which host ID and result ID are you talking about? |

There are some problems with BOINC recognition of whether CPDN is running or not. This is probably asking the obvious, but have you tried setting preferences to allow it to run while user is active? Most people find the priority is low enough that other tasks take priority and the consequences for use of the computer are not serious. Some people have found issues and that may have included you. How far have you got with the current WU and in what period of time? http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/trickle.php?resultid=972167 is interesting - timestep 118822 trickle is recorded but no others. If there was network problems, I would have expected them all to fail or all upload at once. Perhaps it is a consquence of BOINC thinking CPDN is suspended. Does the computer get rebooted only infrequently? _______________________________ Visit BOINC WIKI for help And join BOINC Synergy for all the news in one place. |

I have tried letting it run continuously, but since this is my primary work computer, that has not worked out very well. Too many delays. The current work unit is only up to about 1% right now. I will montior it and see if it trickles. This computer gets re-booted once a week at minimum. Usually it is every few days. I may just have to give up CPDN on that machine. |

Manually switching between run always and suspend is a bit of a pain with annoying possibility of forgetting. > The current work unit is only up to about 1% right now.
