Hi everyone. I have BOINC successfully running on FreeBSD 4.11. It\'s currently processing SETI@Home stuff just fine, but I haven\'t gotten it to start Climate Prediction yet.

I\'ve attached the project via BOINC, and when I do that I get:

2005-08-14 17:23:59 [http://climateprediction.net/] Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
2005-08-14 17:23:59 [http://climateprediction.net/] Requesting 8640 seconds of work, returning 0 results

I had the same problem with SETI@Home at first. Then I built the SETI@Home BOINC client port from the FreeBSD ports system and used that binary in the \"projects/setiathome\" directory.

I don\'t see a similar FreeBSD port for the ClimatePrediction stuff, or any other binaries specifically for CP.net clients, so I\'m not sure what to do from here.

Thanks in advance.

You can only self compile BOINC, not the cp program, which is hadsm.
The only available Linux versions are listed <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/tech_faq_boinc.php"> here.</a>
Your self compiled version of BOINC has to match one of these labels. There are people using SuSE, so you should be able to use FreeBSD, provided the name matches what is available.

Yeah unfortunately it looks this way. My BOINC identifies itself as: i386-portbld-freebsd4.11 :(

It seems that most of the other BOINC projects are like this too, with the exception of SETI. I wish things weren't so aligned towards GNU/Linux...then at least I could still help out the project.

Thanks for your reply though. I'll keep checking in :)

I use Debian GNU/Linux on an iMac and have the same problem. Only seti is working. So my computer remains searching for extraterrestrials and nothing else... :-(
