Was 42% into a new project after 82% complete project was lost due to boinc upgrade. MS Antispyware Beta removed trojan downloader, and Boinc ceased working. Return to prior restore point did not solve the problem. Any experience with this, or recommendations? Was the downloader part of Boinc. The anti-spyware had not picked it up before, so I guessed it wasn't. John Lough |

What are the error messages when you try to start BOINC? Perhaps the Beta removed too many files. Try to uninstall BOINC, then reinstall it into the same directory. You should lose no work, and it may ensure all files needed are there. If that doesn't work, then the Beta did something else nasty. |

All project/work information is now blank. John Lough |

From the restor point, I reran MS Antispware, removed the trojan downloader again, and rebooted. Boinc started fine this time. Perhaps the two issues were unrelated. Thanks, John Lough |

I installed MS AntiSpyware a week or so ago and since then, after a restart/reboot, I have occasionally had the "cannot connect" error. I can't remember ever seeing that error before. A reboot has always succeeded restarting BOINC though so I'm not too worried about it. Ian <img src='http://www.boincsynergy.com/images/stats/comb-942.jpg'> |
