Berkeley released new development version of BOINC core client v5.1.1. Does CPDN scheduller work with the new BOINC client since major version has changed?

I'd like to test the new version, but I have to be sure that it's compatible with CPDN.

The major version numbering checks have been removed as version 5 is really just an extension of version 4 (which ran out of minor version numbers). I don't envisage any problems, but I would take a backup of the BOINC directory before upgrading just in case.
