Hi,

Considering the upload redirect is now in place i find that i\'m having problems of a different kind.
My uploads are temporarily failing with a -161 error, which after looking it up on the boinc site, means that the path cannot be found (equivelent to a HTTP 404 error i think)

however when i point a browser to the upload URL it gets a reply from the data server ???

so i\'m kinda stumped as to what\'s wrong, i\'ve tried restarting BOINC several times, checked that the upload URL for each file works (in a normal browser) even tried flushing the DNS cache, tried manaully changing the URL in the client_state.xml file (even to the actual Oxford address), but it always has the same problem and i fail to see how boinc fails, yet a web broswer seems to work fine, maybe there\'s a problem with the server redirecting requests from /boinc to /cpdn_cgi that boinc can\'t understand prehaps?

Have you checked which ports in your firewall/proxy server have been allowed access by BOINC?

yup, it\'s not a firewall problem a -161 error means that boinc can access the server, but can\'t find the path specified, i run all the other public projects, and no problems there, i\'ve also returned numerous climate model results before without problem, so i\'m pretty sure it\'s not my f/w :)

Hi Jim,

it\'s not a processing/model problem, it\'s a problem uploading the result zip files, an example of the actual messages i get are...

11/09/2005 03:58:27|climateprediction.net|Started upload of 43gz_100213040_1_1.zip
11/09/2005 03:58:28|climateprediction.net|Temporarily failed upload of 43gz_100213040_1_1.zip: -161
11/09/2005 03:58:28|climateprediction.net|Backing off 3 hours, 7 minutes, and 4 seconds on upload of file 43gz_100213040_1_1.zip

this file (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/error_numbers.h) lists what each error means, and as far as i can tell, a -161 error means the same as an HTTP 404 error, however i still get this error even after changing the upload path in the client_state.xml file to point to the proper oxford one, but still with no luck

Check that the file 43gz_100213040_1_1.zip still exists in your projects/climateprediction.net directory.

ah, think this might be it, the file was in the \"projects\" folder, not the climateprediction.net subfolder. I appear to be missing one of the 5 zips :S thou
and when checking the size of each file, they\'re only a few hundred K at most (not a few megs like boinc thinks they should be) but i stopped boinc, copied the files to the climteprediction.net folder as well, fired it up again, but still no luck.
i have no idea why this happened, i\'ve not done anything apart from use it normally, i hardly even look in the boinc folder, but these files seem to have lost data somehow ???

Since these files are now duds, what about the model i ran, because under \"your account\" it says it was successful, and it can display the graphs etc. somehow
yet if the files aren\'t uploaded, surely this is bad (a result being marked as \"sucessful\" but the resulting zips being missing!)

Any thoughts

EDIT to qouted message (ID 15987) they were in the projects/climateprediction.net folder, not the projects root, what i did was to try copying them to the specific work unit sub folder of projects/climteprediction.net, however still no luck (even after restarting BOINC, i think this is becase the sizes of the files are tiny compared to what they should be, again, any thought?
