For almost two weeks, I have had two kinds of problems with this after almost a year of reliable computing.

I am running BOINC 4.45 on an Athlon64 3200 with 1GB ECC memory. W2K is at SP4 with the latest rollup.Computer ID is 192165.

First problem is that the workunit crashes and the system starts another anywhere from the third trickle to the tenth. No messages, no obvious cause. These all appear to be HADSM type computations, not sulphur even though I have 10 GB disk assigned.

Second problem is that when I suspend a WU to reduce the CPU interference from the WU, BOINC *immediately* begins the download of another WU and starts running it, exactly what I don\'t want. I have to kill BOINC to stop the cpu use. Sometimes this causes a new download, but mostly not.

Despite the low priority, the WU does interfere with high quality video capture (at 85-95% CPU alone).

These two problems have ocurred independently. I run Trend Micro spy trap and virus checker - system is clean.

If you suspend a WU, it should download a new WU and start working on it. What you want is to select the project and suspend or suspend all activity on BOINC via the file menu.

The -5 error is a catch all for computation error. Have you tested stability recently? Also is there an option to avoid actively scanning the BOINC folder in your virus package?
