My Boinc manager WORK status shows \"activities suspended\" and no processing is going on. The button shows I can suspend the work, which does result in an obvious change in the client_state.xml. I can see the differences in the prev client state xml when I do try and suspend the work so what variable is causing it to think I\'ve asked it to stop? Immediately prior to this I had been running SETI and climate in a 50/50 ratio, I had detached from seti, leaving just the climate project but climate had continued run for a while after this so I don\'t suspect that. I also had a windows explorer \"reset\" (win 2000) where explorer \"reboots\" internally and I think I had two boinc managers running so I wonder if the control XML files have a flag set that I can change. I\'d rather not detach as there is work processed on the hard disk which I can\'t upload. I can suspend and resume from the work tab and the status changes to suspended by user but back to activites suspended when resume is used. Smiliarly at the project tab level all seems ok there, i can suspend and resume as \"normal\" but with no change in kicking off processing. I have rebooted so What goes on? Thanks |

The answer may be obvious to someone else, but there are 3 things you can tell us that may help. What version of BOINC are you using? Are there any messages in stdoutdae.xml that may be relevant? Are there any messages in stderrdae.xml that may be relevant? (These 2 are in the BOINC folder.) Definately do NOT detach. |

Hi, My versions (as I see them) Boinc Client for windows (intelx86) is 4.45, the climate is saying sulphur cycle 4.19 my logs (edited here, duplicate entries removed for brevity) stderrae.txt (not xml) seems to refer only to seti, I set it for no new work prior to detachment to finish what it had queued up. Quote 2005-09-28 21:03:44 [SETI@home] Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi failed 2005-09-28 21:03:44 [SETI@home] No schedulers responded 2005-09-28 21:03:45 [SETI@home] Deferring communication with project for 17 minutes and 13 seconds repeated so cut from log.... 2005-10-03 09:24:30 [SETI@home] Deferring communication with project for 10 minutes and 4 seconds unquote log from stdoutdae.txt (not xml) showing the seti detachment, I assume my 50/50 ratio was configured as a preference there as it was the first project I was connected to. Last month I re attached to climate as I needed to consider if the months of processing time needed to complete a work unit were viable for this particular pc (its a company pc) Keith |

I get that activities suspended message when I suspend from the file menu. What do you see on the file menu? Visit BOINC WIKI for help And join BOINC Synergy for all the news in one place. |

Hi, Just an idea: When detaching from Seti, Boinc selected your general preferences from Climate web site, and perhaps your preferences in Climate are \"Do work while computer is in use? no\". So the CPDN model is suspended when you\'re moving your mouse... Arnaud |

I get that activities suspended message when I suspend from the file menu. What do you see on the file menu? Cry of despair... too many places for it to be paused and controlled from. You are absolutly correct that\'s exactly what I had toggled. I\'m off to bury my head in shame, Its processing away as normal now, thanks everyone for the help. (sheepish thanks to all) |

Glad it\'s working now. I thought of the file menu suspend, but it looked as if you had everything covered. And apologies for calling the std files xml instead of txt. My mind isn\'t working too good at the moment. :( |

It does actually make sense to have suspend options at three levels - the WU level, the project level and all of BOINC level. However, if you are not aware of these 3 levels of suspend, it is easy to think, after looking and finding two, that there won\'t be any more. It might be better if the buttons were labeled Suspend WU and Suspend Project and the pop up notes said something like \"Suspend work for this project. See Work tab to suspend a work unit or File menu to suspend BOINC\". Visit BOINC WIKI for help And join BOINC Synergy for all the news in one place. |
