You will need to use Control Panel to uninstall the old version of BOINC first, as the current version is totally different.
All cp programs and data will be unaffected by the uninstall, even if in the middle of a model.

There is no time interval for checking, as upgrades are to fix bugs, so new versions appear at any time.
There is a new version (5.n), due soon. But there\'s no word on if it will be a compulsory upgrade, or if it fixs several of the problems with earlier versions.
And it will undoubtedly come with a new set of problems.

And, if you\'re not in the habit of reading these boards, you should be aware that there is a bug in 4.45 that causes it to not restart after the 5 day benchmark run.
