I just completed one of the climate prediction sulfur cycles and it says deffering communication becuase BONIC is out of date. How can I tell BONIC to send it so that I can upgrade? Or can I uninstall the old version and install the newer version without losing my work?

Normally updating the core client will not kill work in progress. You may want to back up the BOINC folder just in case.
