Please edit your post immediately, and remove the account key. This is like the password for your bank account!!! The password is one you make up your self. Also read, in \"version details\" on the Berkeley download page, the section about \"gui_rpc_auth.cfg\". Also this: * You attach to projects using your own email address and password. Long, random \'account keys\' are no longer used. |

You need to go to the \"Change password\" link on the \"Your account\" page (this is a direct link) and set up your own password. Use that instead of your account key when you connect to the project. I have this same problem. I don\'t have anything invested in continuing to try to attach to this project. I suggest you do the same as I, as it\'s far more productive. 1. Give up. It\'s not worth the annoyance. I have the exact same problem, and nothing fixes it. I get the same error message, and the same messages in my log. 2. Try another project. I had much better luck attaching to the SETI project. No hassle, no re-trying, no confusion between account keys and passwords, etc. It simply worked correctly. 3. Forget about it. Once you have another project running well, and see how well it works, you\'ll completely forget about the silliness of trying over and over to attach to a project so you can donate your computing power to a project that simply apparently does not want your help. I\'m going to look for other projects, and forget this ever happened. Maybe someone else will be more effective in helping me donate my assistance... |

Well, I just noticed that my PC had success, even though it said it couldn\'t attach to the project, it is now attached to the project with a datafile in the work section. Totally by accident. I\'ll try the same accident with my Mac. Wow is this confusing... Pete |

Wow is this confusing... Since you are logged in to the website... Go to \"Your Account\". Change the password to something meaningful. In BOINC Manager, \"attach to project\". If asked, tell it you are attaching to an EXISTING ACCOUNT (since you have already set it up on the website). Enter your email address and password. If you have NEVER COME TO THE WEBSITE and signed in after getting the email, you only came and registered to join the project (to initially get the Email with the account key) then it\'s a \"New\" account, and uses the account key, since there is no password to use yet. I\'ll agree the instructions are very unclear, but the process itself is quite simple. |

I was having this problem and getting pretty discouraged also. I have been a subscriber to SETI for years but I like the idea of sharing so I wanted to do more. Couldn\'t do it. Going to my account (here) and changing my password seemed to make things easier since I was able to attach with no problem after doing that. Whew! |
