So I download and install the newest version of boinc 5.2.8, then come to create an account, do so fine, setup the account key, and boinc asks for password. I came here, solved that problem, got my password changed (Someone else posted that it\'s stupid that that is not in the directions. I agree. In that last page saying to download the client, it should also mention going to change your password.)
Here is my problem. I put in the address, and my password:
Boinc Manager - Connection Failed
It has happened 5 times now, and there is no more info than that (no number or anything following).

I am running XP on a 1ghz processor with over 700mb ram, plenty of HD space (30 gigs unfilled), and am on a cable internet connection. I never had a problem running seti@home when I have had it for years. Help?

Quick answers:
1st part: the newly released BOINC is different to version 4.*, and the instructions haven\'t been updated yet.
But a lot of people are still using 4.19, so 2 sets of instructions are needed.

2nd part: I think this is to do with the manager starting before the executable, and not being able to find it running.
There have been a lot of posts both here and on the BOINC & SETI forums about this.
I\'ll try and find some to point you to, but I can\'t recall an answer
(Manually start the exe, then the mgr?; Reboot?)

OK
I found this thread on our Community Forum. There are 2 pages, with both ideas, (some of which haven\'t worked), and a few links to other sites.

Have a read, and try some. Post again and let us know how you get on. (Good or bad); there\'s bound to be others later who will need advice.
