O.K. I have tried everything, it wants server name, user name and password; nothing works I even changed my password and that did not help. And from reading the help page I\'am not the only one who HATES BONIC! You know I ran SETI since 1999 and that software knows what it needs to do to work, should\'t this???? If I were a beting man I would say that the number of users has taken a NOSE DIVE since BONIC.

BOINC is a bit daunting at first, but once you get past the setup it gets better.

There are some teething problems at the moment, caused by a mass migration of users from SETI classic to other projects, using BOINC.
This is stretching the servers to maximum capacity.

One of the problems is that the latest version gives you about 3 seconds to get a reply from a server, and then assumes you are using a proxy server that it hasn\'t been told about. If you get this, just try again. Patience is the only cure.

When you are asked user name / password in a two line window, just click Enter. (Or is it OK? it\'s been two hours since I went through this myself. :) )
This is just the 2 parts of BOINC, not another computer somewhere.

It should then connect you to Localhost. You will see: \"Connected to localhost\" on the right hand side of the bottom bar of the BOINC window.

If you need more help, just ask. There\'s always someone browsing the boards looking for people in trouble.
Sometimes we even know the answers. :)

Good question; no answer.
But ...
There have been several new versions of BOINC in quick succession, all to fix these problems as they occur.
It looks like the programmers are sitting there with fingers poised, waiting for each new bug to be reported. :)

It\'s up to version 5.2.10 now, with 5.2.11 also available, but not currently \"recommended\".

Try <a href=\"http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=246\"> this</a> link.

Also see the <a href=\"http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php\"> download page,</a> and read the version details for changes made.
