Is it possible to move a partially completed CPDN WU from a slower computer to a faster computer (same OS)? |

Yes, as long as it is exactly the same OS i.e Win XP > XP or 2k > 2k etc. Install the same version of BOINC on the new PC in the normal way. Don\'t attach to a project or anything, just delete the new entire BOINC directory in \'Program Files (assuming Windows). Copy the entire BOINC directory from \'Program Files\' on the old PC with the WU in it to same directory on the new one. Start the BOINC manager and all should be OK. That\'s all there is to it. The next auto update will record the new PC information with the server. Pete |

Yes, as long as it is exactly the same OS i.e Win XP > XP or 2k > 2k etc. I would advise a slight difference in this procedure. Copy the old directory to the new place before installing BOINC. Note: CPDN is the only project that really supports this type of action. If possible drain off any work from other projects before you make the copy. It may work with other projects or you may get no credit since the host changed. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

The moved folder will be marked \"read only\". (I\'ve found this to be true moving zipped folders, too.) Reset the Read only flag and all should be okay. "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |
