Hello everyone, I have a small problem with my new Sulphur WU. On the \"old\" WUs I had an average of about 1.8 sec/TS. With the new model it\'s about 3.8 sec/TS. IMHO that\'s a very big change and I have no idea why. The system is the same, no new hardware. Is this typical or is there a problem with my PC or the WU? Greetings from Austria Joe PS: Sorry for my bad english, I\'ll try to improve it. ;-) |

One is a slab model and the other is a sulphur model. See wiki which explains timesteps take about 70% longer because the model is doing more calculations related to sulphur. This 70% figure can vary a bit from computer to computer but 1.8 to 3.8 is a bit too much of a slow down. However, looking at your trickles 1.92 to 3.75 is more like what it should be though still a little high. The model is also 5 phases rather than 3 so the time to completion goes up by much more than 70%. HTH Visit BOINC WIKI for help And join BOINC Synergy for all the news in one place. |

Thanks for your answer. I know that sulphur-models takes more time to complete, but i couldn\'t imagine that it would be such a big increase. Well, maybe it\'s only a temporary performance problem and gets better in the future. Greetings Joe |

Thanks for your answer. I know that sulphur-models takes more time to complete, but i couldn\'t imagine that it would be such a big increase. Well, maybe it\'s only a temporary performance problem and gets better in the future. From my exp the sulpher model runs at from 3.9 to 3.1 sec/ts depending on what stage its at. Phase, trickle etc. This is on a P4 2.66 with 1gb ram that run a slab at about 2.2 sec/ts. Hope this helps. cheers |
