My account shows \'client error\' for many of the trickles submitted from my machine (I haven\'t checked them all). It also shows exit status -5. Does this mean my computer hasn\'t contributed anything useful to the experiment? How do i find out what is wrong? |

I found 3 models ending in a -5. Your sulphur WU ended with different messages Exit status -187 and Output file error: -1. -5 is a catch all for computation error. When these occur frequently the usual suggestion is to try some stability tests like prime95, superpi and memtest86. However it is unusual to see such errors occuring as infrequently as 3million seconds apart. If you get 2 or 3 trickles, you are highly likely to be ok. If the errors are that rare, you are unlikely to catch one with such stability checking programs. Most of your work has been on 1 model and you did complete 2 and a half phases. I think this is enough to suggest it was developing a cold equator and for most purposes would not have been regarded as useful, therefore to some extent, I could suggest that it saved some effort completing the run and was therefore a good idea for it to be aborted. Still you wouldn\'t want that to happen if the model might be a useful one. If you are dedicated, you may want to take backups of the BOINC folder from time to time, so if it crashes you can restore a version from before the crash. If you are not that dedicated, I would continue with your current sulphur model as you have only had one sulphur model crash to see if that suffers the same fate. My only other suggestions are to monitor your cpu temperature and perhaps clear out any dust/fluff that might be blocking air flow.
