After installing the software and joining a team and selecting file:select computer and entering climateprediction.net and my password the Bionic Manager comes back and says that it failed to connect to a Bionic Client. What did I do wrong? Craig |

BOINC manager is trying to connect to localhost, which is the computer you are on, as against one or more remote computers if you have them. The trick is NOT to enter anything in the two fields. Just click OK. When it connects, go to Projects in the menu, select Attach to project, and then enter the cp url you received in the email. And make sure you download the special files from this projects download page. |

Check your router and/or your firewall port settings. \"Rom walton says Boinc needs the following: BOINC Manager needs to be able to open outbound connections to either 1043 or 31416. BOINC Screensaver needs to be able to open outbound connections to either 1043 or 31416. BOINC needs to open an inbound connection to either 1043 or 31416, and an outbound connection to port 80 for downloads and uploads of workunits, results, and science packages.\" K. |

I am also unable to use the attach to projects item of the options menu of boicmgr. I have to use the command line: ./boinc -attach_project url key& After that command, the project(s) appear(s) in the projects tag of boinmgr, and of course, they are running. |
