I seem to have 2 copies of the BOINC manager running, each with their own icon in the systray.

The BOINC manager connected to localhost appears to be doing some work, running the sulfur cycle program.

Is the other manager just an artefact or has something gone wrong ?

regards

The BOINC core client (the bit that controls which applications are run) checks that there isn\'t another instance of the program running when it starts up, and immediately exits if there is. There are 2 possibilities:

  • You\'ve started a second instance of the BOINC Manager program boincmgr.exe and both are monitoring the same core client. If that\'s the case you should be able to safely close one of them. I run BOINC as a service so can\'t say if it\'s going to be significant which one you stop, but to be safe I\'d stop the newer one (which hould be the furthest to the right in the systray).
  • You have the residue of a crashed instance of boincmgr.exe in the systray. If that\'s the case moving the mouse pointer over the icons will cause one of them to disappear.
