I gather I should replace my version 4.45 of BOINC with version 5.2. So I downloaded version 5.2 and tried to install it, but it told me to uninstall the earlier version first. But when I used the Windows uninstall facility, it refused to uninstall the earlier BOINC because it couldn\'t find the file \"Uninst.isu\". So I (perhaps foolishly) tried deleting various files from the BOINC subdirectory, in the hope that this would be sufficient to uninstall the earlier BOINC. But it didn\'t work, and now I can\'t run (or install) either the old or the new version of BOINC. HELP!!! What do I do? If some kind person could email me a copy of this \"Uninst.isu\" file, to davidklove@hotmail.com, then I could perhaps get the uninstall facility to work. Other suggestions welcome. Many thanks, David Love |

Download 4.45 and install, then download 5.2.x and install over. Hopefully this should fix the issues. |

It may be better to install 4.19, which was a simpler system. THEN use windows uninstall to remove it. 4.19 is available here. |

4.45 can be found here if you don\'t have it on disk. |

It may be better to install 4.19, which was a simpler system. Thank you Les. This solved the problem. But surely the BOINC programmers should have included an \"uninst\" file with version 4.45. And version 5.2 doesn\'t seem to have one either, so when the next upgrade comes along, I shall have to use your method again to install it. David |

Version 4.45 shouldn\'t have needed to be uninstalled. When I upgraded from 4.25 to 5.2.8, I just loaded the new over the top of the old. Versions before 4.2* DO need to be uninstalled first, with Windows uninstall. (e.g. 4.19) You may have had a remnant of an earlier version still on your computer, which the 5.* version detected. |
