Hi there, there appears to be an issue between current versions of BOINC CPDN and Antivir. This problem has been discussed in the Forum It might also be the cause of question 3593 and 3521 asked here. Quick summary: Work Units fail with an error -2 after roughly 2 hrs. of computation time. Here\'s the log: 2005-12-27 23:52:57 [climateprediction.net] Starting result sulphur_hvrx_000834333_0 using sulphur_cycle version 422 After that error, the desktop graphics are sometimes corrupted (transparent buttons, multilayer text). The problem started to appear in April (according to the forums). Of course there is a workaround: Switch to another AV scanner. But this might not be an option to some people (including myself). I have suspended CPDN for the time being. So here is the question: Do you plan on fixing this problem anytime soon? Thank you for your answer, Peter |

Incompatibilities are reported from time to time with virus scanners. Unfortunately, these programs change fairly often and it is impracticable to keep altering other software to maintain compatibility. In general, the advice in these cases (which affect other programs besides climateprediction) is to exclude the BOINC folder from the scan, suspend other running programs including BOINC when doing a full virus scan, or to find another anti virus program that is compatible with your computer. I suspect that the first of these would be sufficient in this case. |

@pbro: Thank you, now i have the answer for my \"CPDN aborts all my other Client WUs\" question. @others: SETI, Einstein, Video & Sound editing and all my other applications have no problem with AntiVir Guard. So: \"It\'s up to you to fix the problem\" is an interesting point of view. Have a nice 2006 and goodbye Radio Sunnydale: Aly, i can't take my Eyes off You, in a virgin State of Mind :( |
