My old computer didnt like CPDN, so I built a new one. And yes, CPDN was about 90% of the reason I upgraded. So my new computer, AMD 3000+, Abit AN8, 512MB, 160GB and WinXP Pro with all the updates. This computer ran Slabs fine for months but now that I have been getting sulpher models they have all crashed with in a few days of starting. From what I have seen, they have all had an exit code of -187 (0xffffff45). Examples: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=1579502 and: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=1499077 I have run Prime for more than 7 hours with no errors, was stable with the slab models and have run Einstein models since they project opened. This computer is also a 24\\7 box that stays very close to same temp constantly, plus its winter here and a lot cooler then this summer when it was fine. Sorry about rambling so long but I was jsut trying to cover all the things I have thought of on my own. Thanks! |

Yes, and for the start of the problems CPDN was the only program, I didnt add Einstein to this machine until I started getting all the crashing and having all the idle time associated with it. |

Probably not associated, but what antivirus solution, if any, do you run on this PC? |

Norton AV with the NVIDIA firewall. But that also something that hasnt changed since it was built(~March). Could the AV be ok with one type of workunit and not with another? |

Possible, but not probable. You could use the Norton configuration options for excluding the BOINC directory from on access and scheduled (if you do so) scanning to see if that makes any difference. |

You might also want to give Memtest 86+ a whirl to to see if the memory is entirely reliable. I have had a number of machines fail in a number of creative ways but the root cause for most of them ended up being bad memory. |
