My BOINC screensaver keeps telling me \"BOINC is currently suspended.\" I recently added Climate Prediction to my BOINC projects at work--I have been running Seti@home for several years, but when I ran it in BOINC I kept getting a \"BOINC is idle\" message for the screensaver, so I thought adding a second project would keep it busy. The two are allocated 50/50. I haven\'t suspended anything. I note that BOINC\'s site has no contact information, so I gather this is the place to ask--what causes BOINC to be suspended, and how can I get it to resume? I will submit this same query to Seti@home. . . |

As well as the answer given on the SETI site, that it is probably a result of having preferences set to not doing work whilst the computer is in use, it is worth warning you that BOINC Manager also has several ways of suspending work manually, and it is easy to click on an option by mistake. As well as suspending BOINC in the Commands menu, you can suspend a project in the Projects tab, or a work unit in the Work tab. Probably not the case here, but worth checking if this sort of behaviour suddenly occurs. The BOINC Wiki has lots of advice on the workings of BOINC, for example here. |
