i have a question. why is it that every time i turn off my comp. and turn it back on my result\'s for climateprediction goes back down to 0%? i had 0.28% done turned my comp off turned it back on now i have no result\'s. what it to do that?

Not sure, but do you have in the General Preferences of Your Account page

Do work while computer is in use set to Yes

and

Leave applications in memory when preempted set to Yes?

If not, changing them to yes may help.

i got in my preferences run always and network activity based on preferences.

The preferences in question are those on your Account page on the project site.
What you see in BOINC on your computer, is just options for USING these preferences.

You can get to them via the blue menu to the left of here, but to make it easier,

yes it is important to change your preferences as geophi mentioned but also why not leave your machine on 24/7

i don\'t leave my comp. on 24\\7 is i don\'t want it to catch on fire and because of the electric bill.

Whenever I have to shut down my computer, I first

• open BOINC Manager
  
• suspend whatever is running at the moment
  
• exit BOINC Manager
  

Now I know everything is saved and I can shut down or reboot.

I also back up the entire BOINC folder about once a week, so if really something happens I can restore to the last backup point.
