Make sure you do not have any leading or trailing spaces in the url and acct #. Could be that the project is down..... This 'SPACE' Rented. The anonymity of the Internet, brings forth, yet another EXPERT. M7 Seti@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club © |

You also may be running an older version of the BOINC program. If its anything less, you'll get an error like this (Atleast I did). They should really throw a better error description, but if you look at the message tab, you'll see something about "In order to participate in this project....." Just upgrade BOINC (Install the new version) and everything should be happy. GE |

Try using http://climateprediction.net instead - ie. without the forward slash and period. |

Travis, Are you running Win XP SP2 with the firewall enabled? You may have to explicitly add BOINC to the list of programs allowed to access the net if you are. This could, of course, be rubbish because my systems run Win 2K Pro ;-) Join us here |

I have tried to install Boinc on a friends machine and keep getting the same error message, BOINC couldn't get main page for http://climateprediction.net/. please check the url and try again. I have tried everything I can think of, including all of the above, although it ran first time on my machine. Both machines are running windows xp pro, sp2, cp client version 4.05 This seems to be a common problem, but so far I have been unable to find a fix for it. |

I could attach (after a few attemps, the climateprediction.net servers might be busy) to the project 2004/09/02 8h45 GMT with the following (* indicates pertinent info): * Project URL: climateprediction.net (as is) * Account ID: s0m3th1ngcr42y * BOINC version 4.06 Source: Rom Walton Posted: 1 Sep 2004 5:32:18 UTC Okay, I've built a new build, BOINC CC 4.06. The build can be downloaded from here: * http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/boinc_alpha/download/boinc_4.06_windows_intelx86.exe Symbols can be downloaded from here: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/boinc_alpha/download/boinc_406_pdb.zip Be advised this build hasn't been vetted by the Alpha team. I do need somebody who is adventurous to tell me if this build helped out at all though. ----- Rom BOINC Development Team, U.C. Berkeley Source: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=3376 * My firewall allowes BOINC both for server and communication status Best of luck, P A Renaud Montreal, Canada |
