Using windows XP, running Predictor on v.3.20. Trying to add on climateprediction. Downloaded new version of BOINC. It will not replace the old version. What to do next?

Uninstall v3.2x then reinstall v4.05 to the same directory. There is a big but though: Predictor will not run on the 4.05 client until they have changed over to this version. So consider if you want to run CPDN already.

Are you sure you're placing it in the same directory as the old version?

The upgrade should install right over the top with no problems.

I'm having the same problem - can't instal 4.05 on one of my computers. I tried your suggestion of uninstalling the previous version, still no success. Clicking on the downloaded 4.05 package results in a half-second display of the unzip display, followed by a second or so of an hourglass, then the cursor goes back to an arrow without anything having been installed. It installs fine on my other computer. Both are Win2kPro, pentium class machines with plenty of memory. Any other ideas on how to install 4.05?

This sounds like an installer issue. Reboot the system to clear out any zombie processes. Try installing again. If you are still haveing problems kill tasks until it gets going again. Reboot afterwards to get anything you killed running again.

I was having a similar problem with downloading 4.07 from the alpha site. I had to copy the installer from one of my other computers to get it to run. I think that there may be a web site issue.
