BOINC running the suphur model crashes after approximately 10 minutes of running. It causes the computer to freeze (no response to anything), meaning pressing the hard reset switch. It\'s a pentium D 2.8GHz, 1024MB RAM, running windows XP pro. Runs fine on my laptop which has same software. I\'ve tried reinstalling BOINC (v5.2.13) and resetting the model. Any Ideas? |

Are you running the graphics/screensaver when it freezes? |

Are you running the graphics/screensaver when it freezes? No I\'m not. I\'ve disabled the CPDN screensaver. Just to check I set the screensaver timeout to an hour and the system still hangs after about 10 minutes. Further ideas? |

Do you have any temperature/fan monitoring software? It might be interesting to see what the temperature and cpu fan speed is when it hangs. |

Do you have any temperature/fan monitoring software? It might be interesting to see what the temperature and cpu fan speed is when it hangs. As soon as the model starts the CPU temperature rises from about 38C at rest to 46C. The fan speed stays about constant at 2100rpm (cpu) and 2550 (case). The system temperatue raises by 1 degree. There is no suden rise in either temperature or fan speed just before the computer hangs. The system responds the same way when encoding video by will happily number crunch like this for hours (showing a 100% processor load on both cores) |
