It\'s worth keeping one\'s eye on the News and Announcements section here http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php as this is the only place we have on any of the ClimatePrediction forums to put all important need-to-know posts in a single thread. If you register on that php forum in order to be able to post as well as read, send private messages to other members etc, please keep the same name if possible so we recognise each other. We\'ve now completed (to at least 2050) over 9000 transient coupled 160-year models! A big thank you to all ClimatePrediction crunchers. Completed HadCM3L Transient Runs 9,090 BOINC - 4,088 BBC - 5,002 Just a reminder that the research team still needs more models and welcomes new members. Existing BBC members, please continue and complete your BBC models if you possibly can. When your model finishes, you are invited to migrate to the cpdn side of the project, in the process getting the full version of the boinc platform that the models run on. Explanation about how to migrate/switch here. The BBC Climate Change Experiment is no longer open to new members, so new participants join cpdn directly. Join here. Cpdn news |

We\'ve now completed (to at least 2050) over 10000 160-year models! From the cpdn front page: Completed HadCM3L Transient Runs 10,024 BOINC - 4,591 BBC - 5,433 The researchers still need more models; members who reach the end of a BBC run will need to migrate to the cpdn side of the project to download a new one. Different types of model are also in the pipeline. Have you been wondering whether your computer\'s crunching contributed to the IPCC report? Dr DaÃÂthàStone of the Oxford research team was one of the contributors. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/02_02_07_climatereport.pdf http://www.climateprediction.net/newsb.php?id=12 Congratulations to Dr Sylvia Knight who has recently given birth to a daughter, Philippa. Much determination is required to hang-in for the better part of four thousand hours. Congratulations! "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

More than a year later from hitting 100K, I am now at 350K CPDN. Over 1.4 Million on all projects. Climbing rather well, and will be better when I get my second Core 2 Duo in a few weeks. |

Congratulations, Kathryn and Pooh Bear. The help both of you give unstintingly on the forums makes as big a contribution as your completed models. Cpdn news |

We\'ve now completed another thousand models to at least 2050: Completed HadCM3L Transient Runs 13,022 BOINC - 6,397 BBC - 6,625 If your model has reached 2050, it\'s still much more useful to the researchers if you can keep going - the real finishing line is still 2080! Thanks to all crunchers for your time and effort. BBC crunchers who complete their models need to move to the cpdn side of the project to continue. Nick Faull from Oxford has posted about the frequency distribution of our results here. Cpdn news |

Cpdn has now crunched over 22 million model years! Total Model Years ------------------------------------------------- It is very helpful when members post about a problem if they can make sure before they post that their computers aren\'t hidden. This is particularly important on the cpdn-boinc forum where if members have chosen in their preferences to hide their computers, it\'s impossible for anyone trying to help to see the member\'s server web pages containing trickles, results and messages about model crashes. ------------------------------------------------- When members post on the cpdn php forum (the one in my sig) about problems, it is very helpful if their first post states whether they have a BBC or cpdn model and includes their computer ID number for the project. This number is usually in line 7 of the boinc manager messages, or in one of the following few lines. Cpdn news |

>> You Beauty, I have finally finished a complete Work Unit (that is one that has not crashed, errored out or a hissy fit in Boinc killed). Took from 7/11/06 till 11/4/07 (12/4/07 in Australia) taking 2,188 hours 57 minutes and 28 seconds. They may be long but their is great satisfaction when you complete one. Now only 2 more to go. Also passed 600,000 Cobblestones in Rosetta. 1.8 Million Cobblestones total and Team Cobar Spiders passed 2 Million Cobblestones as well. |

Well done Conan, and you\'re absolutely right about the \"job satisfaction\" when you complete one - the people who complain about the length of the models obviously don\'t know about that! ;-) Visit the Scotland team |

::does happy dance:: Finished my second CPDN model. That makes 2 CPDN, 1 SAP and the better part of a CPDN beta... and all without a crash. Time to delete those backups off the network drive! Well done Kathryn - the \'job satisfaction\' on completing a cpdn model is a bit more intense than on other boinc projects, don\'t you think? BTW, just in case you missed the news, all beta models whether complete or not should now be zapped and replaced with standard versions. Cpdn news |
