I have joined this project along with seti, however I have adjusted my preferences with you to only keep .1 to 1 days worth of work on my computer. However it continues to download applications that are going to take 1000+ hours to process. Can someone please explain how to reduce this to seti size packets that only take several hours to process.

Andrew ... the workunits are huge and will take a very long time to complete. I have one that is estimating that it will take 2,700 hours. That's 100+ days of 24x7 processing on a 1Ghz PIII. Note the "expiry date" on your work unit. It is likely set at 1 year from now.

The CPDN folk are using the concept of a "trickle" to give you credit for the work done. If your machine is BOINc'ing during the day it should report back every day or two and credit you with progress made.

It's a different concept then Seti .. where one could whip through a WU every few hours on a fast enough machine.

I personally would like to see some way to migrate workunits to replacement machines as I have a few boxes that are not likely going to last the year.

You could balance your 'resources' in your account settings. I am running three projects at the moment and have set my resources to favour CPDN ie 200/100/100.
This gives me 50% on CPDN and 25% on each of the other two. They are all slower of course, but it seems to work ok.

K.
