I keep getting the message that the result has exited with zero status but no finished file. The screensaver graphics say \'Model hasn\'t started\' and \'Please wait ...\" I\'ve already reset the project once as suggested, resulting in losing one work unit which is still shown as active in my account. This is annoying as I don\'t see how I can let anyone know I\'m not working on it and the deadline isn\'t till next year. (I realise now I should have aborted the WU first but I haven\'t had to reset a BOINC project before.) I downloaded and installed the extra files before I started, assuming that they are automatically installed where they should be - couldn\'t see any instructions as the unzipped file didn\'t appear on my desktop. I also changed my preferences to run while the computer is in use as suggested in these forums and updated before it started again. Has anyone any idea what\'s wrong and how I can get started properly? I currently crunch both SETI and Einstein WUs successfully on a 450Mhz G4 with 768MB RAM, running OSX 10.4.4 and BOINC manager 5.2.13. |

Don\'t worry about the \"result has exited with zero status but no finished file\" message. It shows up now and then, but doesn\'t cause a problem, so ignore it. When the server hasn\'t heard from a model for about 6 weeks, it assumes that it is lost, and marks that data set for possible re-issue. I know nothing about Macs, or where the extra files should end up. But you\'ll know if the program can\'t find them by the error messages on the model page. |

The second WU reported an error and uploaded. Reading the result, it appears the extra files hadn\'t installed themselves automatically after all and that there was some problem with Stuffit not being a recent enough version, even though I had the latest Mac version as far as I was aware. Anyway, I re-downloaded and reinstalled Stuffit and when I clicked on the installer disc image for the CPDN extra files, I got a proper installation package this time and installed them successfully. The next WU which had meanwhile downloaded and apparently started running was doing the same as the previous (ie nothing) so I\'ve aborted that and will start afresh with a new one and hope it works this time! |
