After a power failure and 17 days processing, my exp restarted. I have seen that this dose happen on bioncs from some of the postings.

I wondered when there is going to be a fix so that the exp recovers after power failures /glitches as the results have been stored do not require complete recalculation?

Now I have to wait 17 day time I can start adding to my credits a waste of processing time for climate and more space on my hard drive with the same Data

This was not a problem on Classic it just got right back on with it from where it stoped.
My computer DID approx 20 THC runs with out any problems

Computer Id 367057 (XP sp2+all)
bionc 5.2.13
sulphur 4.22

It depends on what files were damaged by the power failure. If it was some that were needed for restart, then it CAN\'T restart.
Which is why you should make regular backups of the BOINC folder.

I\'ve had several power failures, both long and short, and my computer, BOINC, and the science app, all recover OK. So it is possible.

It comes down to what one thinks the effort is worth. If it\'s okay to risk days and weeks of computer time to some unforseen contingency, then it is, by definition, okay.

However, I don\'t buy that. I\'m a bit paranoid, so I make backups -- every three days for my Spinup Runs, Bit of a bother, actually, for several machines -- but the backups saved a *lot* of work. Would you believe months? (One Spinup Run was 195 Model Years into a 200 M.Y. Run. Rapid power spikes during a storm drove the UPS unit over the top and it crashed. Computer crashed. Restarted the box -- and the Model restsarted at Time Step zero... 3.5 months of 24/7 work on a P4 3.0. down the tubes. ... Recovered from a backup Folder and two days worth of rerun.) Ask me why I believe in backups!

A CPDN Model is a commitment. Else, why would we do this thing? In my opinion, backups are essential in this long effort and cannot be emphasized too strongly.
