Hi, I just joined CPDN, I\'ve been wanting to for a while but I waited until Seti went to boinc version 4 so I could run them both. But now that I\'ve done it, I\'ve hit some problems. First, CPDN has miscounted the number of computers I\'ve installed the project on, or rather, it\'s counted the same computer three times. Three seperate host ID\'s, but it\'s the same computer. Second, it (BOINC) can\'t seem to download the actual program that will do the work. Here\'s the output: 2004-08-31 06:32:09 [climateprediction.net] Requesting 17529 seconds of work 2004-08-31 06:32:09 [climateprediction.net] Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi 2004-08-31 06:32:10 [climateprediction.net] Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded 2004-08-31 06:32:10 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: using your defaults 2004-08-31 06:32:10 [climateprediction.net] Started download of hadsm3_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu 2004-08-31 06:32:10 [climateprediction.net] Started download of hadsm3se_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip 2004-08-31 06:32:22 [climateprediction.net] Finished download of hadsm3_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu 2004-08-31 06:32:22 [climateprediction.net] Throughput 98793 bytes/sec 2004-08-31 06:32:22 [climateprediction.net] Started download of hadsm3um_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip 2004-08-31 06:33:00 [climateprediction.net] Giving up on download of hadsm3um_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip: File downloaded was not the correct file or was garbage from bad URL 2004-08-31 06:33:00 [climateprediction.net] Started download of hadsm3data_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip 2004-08-31 06:33:00 [climateprediction.net] verify_downloaded_file(): projects/climateprediction.net/hadsm3um_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip: MD5 computation failed: -108 2004-08-31 06:33:00 [climateprediction.net] Checksum or signature error for hadsm3um_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip 2004-08-31 06:33:17 [climateprediction.net] Giving up on download of hadsm3se_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip: File downloaded was not the correct file or was garbage from bad URL 2004-08-31 06:33:18 [climateprediction.net] Started download of 03it_400029550.zip 2004-08-31 06:33:18 [climateprediction.net] verify_downloaded_file(): projects/climateprediction.net/hadsm3se_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip: MD5 computation failed: -108 2004-08-31 06:33:18 [climateprediction.net] Checksum or signature error for hadsm3se_4.03_i686-pc-linux-gnu.zip 2004-08-31 06:33:18 [climateprediction.net] Finished download of 03it_400029550.zip 2004-08-31 06:33:18 [climateprediction.net] Throughput 10481 bytes/sec That may be more info then needed, but I didn\'t want to leave out anything relevant. Please note that I\'ve been running seti just fine since it started using BOINC. Can anyone help me sort this out? |

I have seen this before with modem users, it seems to be that you are getting "timeouts" from one of the download servers so an incomplete (hence bad checksum) file is created. I'm not quite sure what the solution is right now, I could try bumping up the timeout on the Apache and hope that keeps the connection up longer? |

I've restarted the servers with "KeepAlive=On" so hopefully that will help. I've also reset "max results" for all hosts today in case you want to try again. |

I do have a modem, but it's a dsl modem, so I'm not sure why I'm getting timeouts. Oh well, that seems to have done the trick. I had boinc reset the project and all's well now. Merged the three duplicate hosts into one, that took care of that problem as well. Thanks for the help :) |
