I have setup my BOINC preferences in CPDN with a 200 resource share, and in SETI with a 100 RS. This should, if I understand it all correctly, give CPDN the preference 67% of the time, and SETI 33% (and this is indeed what it says in the BOINC software).

What I am seeing is the opposite. CPDN only runs for an hour at a time. SETI on the other hand gets 2 hours every time.

Anyone else seeing this?

I think what may be happening is there is a "debt" from when you ran CPDN 100%, so SETI is "catching up"

Hmm. Okay, I understand that. Is there a way to reset the "debt" to zero (without resetting the projects) so that it computes at my preferences now, or do I just have to wait?

No, there is no way to reset this. In beta it was discussed because it creates a lot of confusion. Especially because when you attach to a new project, it will dominate your CPU until your resource debt becomes balanced. This isn't what users expect, so many hurriedly detach thinking something is dreadfully wrong.

Actually, there is. It does involve tinkering with the client_state.xml file. If you get it wrong, you really can screw up things very badly.

Shut down BOINC.
Look for "debt" there should be one for each project.
Change them all to be the same value (NOT 0).
save the changes, and restart BOINC. Now see what happens.

I'm just letting it run rather than risk messing up the client_state.xml file.

It looks like, after 3 or 4 days, the SSETI debt is finally getting caught up. SETI was getting 2 hours to every one hour CPDN was getting. Now SETI is getting around 1.5 hours per CPDN hour.

I've seen several mentions (on this board) to the effect that 4.05 will catch up in a matter of hours rather than weeks, but I believe this is either not the case, or it was an intended change, but it's not working properly. It appears that it will indeed take at least 2 weeks for my resource share settings (67% CPDN, 33% SETI) to kick in.
