I have one major question, and several small ones. First the major.

About every hour to three hours, I get a series of four messages in the BOINC Manager \"Messages\" page. They are:

4/4/2006 11:18:46 PM|climateprediction.net|Result hadcm3lb_r92w_05053398_0 exited with zero status but no \'finished\' file
4/4/2006 11:18:46 PM|climateprediction.net|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.
4/4/2006 11:18:46 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: process exited
4/4/2006 11:18:46 PM|climateprediction.net|Restarting result hadcm3lb_r92w_05053398_0 using hadcm3lb version 508

I\'ve been running my first model for about two days now, and am at about 1.00%. My transfer and statistic pages are both blank however.

My question is, should I restart the project as the message recommends?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

Here are my minor questions. All have to do with being a new user, and not finding the information I\'m seeking yet.

1) Is there a link to menu commands for the screen saver/graphical display? There are more commands than are shown on the left hand side. Cntl-z and cntl-8 are two examples.

2) How do I know what kind of model I\'m running? Is it a sulphur cycle? If it helps, the name is \"hadcm2lb_r92w_\" and a bunch of numbers)

3) Is there a link to some information on how the software works in general? How often should I see messages? What do they mean? How often are the results saved? Or sent? Stuff like that.

Many thanks.

Hi, it sounds like the zero status exit errors are being caused by the Windows time sync (try right clicking on the clock, adjust date/time, internet time, update time - if the model falls over again when you click \'update time\', you\'ve found the culprit).

You can change the frequency of the automatic update by fiddling around in the registry.

Don\'t reset, that\'ll mean that your projects starts again from scratch, and the new project will have the same problem anyway.

Press \'H\' or Ctrl-H to see commands. It\'s best not to run the screensaver, but use \'view graphics\' when you want to see how things are getting on.

I think you\'re running the coupled model.

If you browse the main forums (not these ones) you\'ll come across a lot more information.

Thanks Mike. The cntl-H got me the menu. It was the second page, (using the right-arrow) that took me some time to figure out how to get to.

On the messages… I followed your directions and here\'s what happened.

I updated my computer clock (Internet time) as you recommended. The default server was \"time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov\", which failed a few times. So I switched the server to \"time.windows.com\" which worked fine. (By the way, this morning, 12 hours later, I switched back to \"time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov\" and it worked fine.

Anyway, when I did the manual updates (both yesterday and today), BOINC did nothing.

Even stranger, after yesterday\'s manual update of the time, BOINC didn\'t post any new messages at all. (I\'m assuming it didn\'t even try the activity that resulted in that series of four messages.)

I also tried the \"\"Retry Communications\" commend that is on the \"Commands\" pull-down menu, and I get no apparent activity. (Though the program is still crunching happily along, and is now at 1.2%).

Can you tell me what response you expected when I manually updated \"Internet Time\"? And, can you tell me if these new symptoms has shed any light on my problem.

Thank you.

I was wondering if it was causing the \'zero status exit\' message, but obviously not. Is your manager suspended perhaps?

Actually, I think you were right. After I manually updated the internet time (per your instructions, I did get what looks to be a successful transfer (albeit, some 12 hours later). So there was a cause/effect relationship there. I was just wondering if you knew what that relationship was.

PS. I\'m definately not suspended. I double checked.

Thanks for the help.
