I am running SETI and climate prediction exclusively and have them set so that they are at 50/50 in the resorce share paramter. This worked fine for a few months but now it seems that SETI will not fetch new work and that only CPDN will run. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JC |

It\'s just BOINC following it\'s inbuilt instructions. There are several constraints which affect which project gets worked on, but if you try this section of the BOINC Wiki, you\'ll get some idea of what\'s going on. |

It\'s just BOINC following it\'s inbuilt instructions. Les, thanks for the quick response. I sort of assumed that this was the case but wasn\'t totally sure. Have a great day!! Sincerely, JC |

It\'s just BOINC following it\'s inbuilt instructions. Thanks for that, too. I have not been able to receive new SETI WUs for about 8 days I think, and I too, am working solely on CP & SETI. I am currently running a big model that claims to be 2718 hours to completion and I am only 3.2% into it!!! Can I kiss SETI goodbye now?!? How do I get BOINC to run the two programs 50/50 - ie. 12 hours a day each roughly. I had both set to \"Resource Share = 100\". Regards, Neil. ![]() |

Neil Setting both projects to to same value will be 50/50, whatever the actual number used. The BOINC Wiki is \'packed to the gunnels\' with information. The tricky part is knowing what to search for, when you don\'t know what is available. :( Try this section for some more clues. Hint: Don\'t keep fiddling with the BOINC settings. It just makes things worse in the long run. And the long run is how you have to view things when one of your projects is a climate model. BOINC knows what it\'s doing, and you\'ll see messages from time to time to tell you whats up. |

Hi Les, I can now see what is happening. I thought the resource share, was simply the % of time that each program would run per day if it was left on 24/7. so a 50/50 share for two projects would have SETI run for 12 hours and CPDN run for 12 hours. Not so!! I have just changed my share to 1000 for CPDN and 1 for SETI, and bingo, it downloads some SETI WUs. Never tried that extreme setting before. I can now see it is all about the \"reporting deadline\", and clearly this huge model I now have for CPDN is going to hog my PC. I guess I may get a few SETI WU\'s when the right time comes, as the CPDN deadline is 12th March 2007!!! Many thanks for the quick reply though. Do you suggest I switch my resource share to something like CPDN=100, SETI=10 for now and to leave it at that? Thanks, Neil. Neil ![]() |
