I justed joined the project, and everytime BOINC tries to process the massive workunit I received, the hadsm3 4.03 client crashes, then BOINC sits there doing nothing until i close it and restart it, or detach the project. Has anobody else had this problem, and is there a fix?

Omega ... what operating system are you running ? If it is Windows 98 or NT 4.0 BOINC will not run.

I am running WIN XP SP2, with every driver on my system up to date. I have an AMD 3200+ with 2.0 GB of RAM and 1TB of HDD space. I meet or surpase specs for just about every piece of software for a 32 bit workstation on the planet icluding DOOM3, which runs fine on ULTRA mode on my system. So I don't think it's OS or Hardware related, but it's my fault for not mentioning it. But I should also point out that SETI@HOME 4.03 runs fine.

Ok.

what do you mean by "crashes" ? Do you mean that it does not appear to run (i.e. the "CPU Time" entry under the "Work tab" does not increase) or do you mean that you get actual error messages and/or your machine locks up hard?

Can you cut and paste the log from your "Messages" tab here so that others can take a look ?

Well, windows just tells me the program has caused an error and must shut down, but you asked for it, so here is a report brakedown from my OS. I shortened it a little, but it's pretty complete.

Hi OmegaZone,

Is your system overclocked? (There's a specific warning about overclocking <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/tech_faq_boinc.php">here</a>).

CPDN stresses the memory and hard disk more than any other application you're likely to be running on your system, so you're more likely to hit problems when it's running. If your HD is self-diagnosing it's worth checking the event log to see if there are any warnings that it's about to fail. Also I'd advise trying the hardware checks suggested by UK_Nick <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2126">here</a> and <a href="http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewtopic.php?t=2124">here</a>.

I had this problem too. It goes hand in hand with the runtime error here http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=480 or here http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=399

I´m running boinc 4.05 with seti@home, lhc@home and climateprediction.net on WIN XP SP2, AMD Barton 3200+, 1 GB DDRRAM 400MHZ, 220GB HD
