I\'ve had a climateprediction project running for more than a week. By mistake, I started up another climateprediction project. Files were downloaded, and a new program started running. I aborted it, but then yet another program started running on this (second) project. I aborted that one. I\'d like to eliminate all files associated with this extra project: how can I identify which one is the new and which the old one? Both projects are simply labeled climateprediction.net. |

Your acct shows all WUs have errored out except the latest one that was just downloaded.... Sorry, but I have no idea what you are saying. As I said, I have TWO projects, one started about 10 days ago. The other keeps downloading new files. How can I stop this? It\'s like the sorcerer\'s apprentice!! Every time a new program is downloaded, it preempts my original program. I abort it, and yet another one is downloaded, ad infinitum (I hope not). |

I suspect that you mean \"new model\", rather than \"new project\". However, the way to stop it is to go into the Projects tab, and click: \"No new work\" It\'s possible that you\'ve been clicking on Suspend in the Work tab, which will result in a new model being downloaded. This is because BOINC is trying to keep the science program busy. This Suspend is intended for use by people running multiple models, either all of \'climate\', or from several different projects. e.g. SETI, Einstein, LHC, etc. The Suspend to use to stop EVERYTHING, is the one in the menu, which is also accessable by right clicking on the B icon in the bottom right of your screen. As Jim said, you have had several wus, (Work Units; a term used more in other projects, but which just means models. e.g. climate models), and you\'ve been aborting them. And a new model WILL pre-empt the previous one. This is how BOINC schedules multiple models. Then, at an interval set by one of your General preference options, the two models will swap over, and the other one will run for a while. |

I suspect that you mean \"new model\", rather than \"new project\". No, sorry, I meant \"new project\". I\'m certainly not well-versed in the terminology, but when the Manager display shows two lines on the page with the tab marked \"Projects\", I assume it means two projects. And both lines are labeled as climateprediction.net. I was concerned that this re-generation of new models was going to overwhelm my computer after I went to bed last night, so I just terminated nearly everything manually. Very frustrating. Now, nothing is running, and I\'m not at all sure I want to continue. |

Yes, you\'re correct. That IS 2 projects. Which means that you\'ve attached to the project twice! Click on one of them and then click on \"Detach\". But because they are the SAME project, it\'s possible that BOTH will disappear. If so, just Attach to the project again. But only ONCE. |

Yes, you\'re correct. That IS 2 projects. Which means that you\'ve attached to the project twice! It has been a long time but I seem to remember that you have to detach and then manually delete everything related to the problem project and then reattach. It seems like some of the xml files get corrupted but not deleted in the detach in this case. Be sure to restart the client a time or two afterwards to make sure the extra project does not reappear on it\'s own. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
