My machine is duel booted with Mandrake Linux 10, and Windows 2000. I use linux most, but lately I\'ve been using Windows quite a bit as well. The partition boinc is installed on is formatted as Fat32, useable by both OS\'s. Is it possible to install the windows version of boinc to the same directory, and have it work on the same workunits the linux client is working on? For example, lets say I\'m in linux, boinc is running, and I reboot to windows. Can I have the windows client \'pick up\' where the linux one left off, continueing the calculactions on the same workunit? Or would it download new WU\'s to work on? I hate to lose calculation time just because I\'m in windows.

i dont think that is possible since the linux and windows Boinc are distinctly different processes. I woudl think that they would be incompatible for processing from both OSes. I would suggest just installing a separate Boinc on both and just process the assigned WU that is given. since linux and Windows dont look at files the same way it would be hard to get them to see the same WU and process it as if it werent on a different OS

I actually tried this :), when I pointed windows boinc to the directory the linux boinc had made, it reattached to the project and download new work. So unless there are some tricks needed it does not work :(.

Worth a Windows Model experiment from Linux, with wine? (Not sure I'd trust BOINC not to conjure up a different machine/run, though, given the different OS.)

Anyone tried this?
