My machine just finished 3 weeks of work on a unit with the following messages: 05/24/06 10:53:18 PM||request_reschedule_cpus: process exited 05/24/06 10:53:18 PM|climateprediction.net|Computation for result sulphur_ib7i_100854334_0 finished 05/24/06 10:53:21 PM|rosetta@home|Starting result t285_HOMOLOG_ABRELAX_hom001__518_23375_0 using rosetta version 516 05/24/06 10:53:21 PM|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result sulphur_ib7i_100854334_0 (<file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_ib7i_100854334_0_5.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message></file_xfer_error>) 05/24/06 10:54:26 PM|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi 05/24/06 10:54:26 PM|climateprediction.net|Reason: To fetch work 05/24/06 10:54:26 PM|climateprediction.net|Requesting 172800 seconds of new work, and reporting 1 results 05/24/06 10:54:32 PM|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded 05/24/06 10:54:34 PM|climateprediction.net|Started download of hadcm3lbm_aj2m_05260545.zip 05/24/06 10:54:34 PM|climateprediction.net|Started download of SULPC_OXIDANTS_19_A2_1990.mod.gz 05/24/06 10:54:36 PM|climateprediction.net|Finished download of hadcm3lbm_aj2m_05260545.zip That\'s it. No attempt to transfer again; it just downloaded another unit and started running again. Thousands of cpu-hours blown. I don\'t give damn about the credit, I\'m trying do some science. I reiterate what I said before on the Rosetta forum. It is not my responsibility to make these models run. The people who write them are responsible for fixing them. What a waste. I am now permanently disconnecting from climateprediction and giving all my resources to Rosetta. I don\'t feel the effort is worth it. There\'s plenty of good climate research out there already. |

You\'re misinterpreting the error message, it wasn\'t as a result of a failed upload. http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=25464 Virtually every one of the recent models were manually aborted. The ones which weren\'t are error code -161, this can often be sorted out by downloading updated graphics drivers for your PC. See the \'solutions for crashing models\' post at the top of this forum. I would also recommend doing backups at intervals, perhaps weekly (for long-duration work units, this is a good idea). I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |
