Hi, Hans, welcome to the CPDNboinc Boards.

Been a long time since I thought about Classic CPDN and my memory fails me here. I\'ll solicit help on another Board from someone with more recent Classic experience.

Many Thanks!
I just found this forum (http://www.climateprediction.net/board/index.php) maybe here I should ask.
I also tried to install advanced visualisation, but it cant find the service, because this service since days tries to upload the last finished model and cant deliver his files.
Can I install any newer version than 2.2.29?
Now I installed Boinc and a new model is running, but what is with the older one?
Many greetings
HH

Sent a message to an Admin on one of the other CPDN Boards but, apparently, she hasn\'t seen the message. Sorry.

BOINC is where the action is these days. \'Classic\' runs a now-obsolete Model. (The science team derived all necessary goodies from it to use in later parts of the Project; this is the later part.) Please note, though, that these Transient coupled Models run a LOT longer (160 Model-years for both atmosphere and ocean rather than 45 years of ocean-only, one Phase rather than three) and make heavy demands on your computer.

2.2.29 was the latest \'production\' version of Classic and is primarily used by students in an Open Uni. course. (There was a later 4-Phase version, but it was for a short-lived special project.)

Forget Advanced Visualization, it doesn\'t work with these newer Models.

You can also forget the 2.2.29 Model unless someone currently-familiar with Classic comes along. (Is the old Classic Bulletin Board still available? Did you ask there?)

Welcome to CPDNboinc. It\'s quite different and much more flexible than Classic. If you have questions about it, please ask. Best of luck!

Hi Hans and Astro

Sorry about the delay - I just got back from holiday on Monday night and have now found Astro\'s private message.

Hans, I understand that you now have a boinc model running. As Astro says, these are the best models to run now.

If you still have the classic model on your computer but not completely uploaded, you should first suspend then stop the boinc model, and then try a manual upload of the remaining classic files. Here is a link to the page, and the manual upload is in the menu at the bottom left:
http://cpdn.comlab.ox.ac.uk/user/login.php

You paste the remaining files into the boxes. I think the total number of files for a classic model is 13, but you will only find the files that did not upload automatically - a smaller number.

When you have finished the manual upload, the best idea is to uninstall classic completely and to continue with your boinc model.
